Position Overview
Cox Media Group (CMG) is seeking a detail-oriented, service-minded HR Compliance & Employment Practices Specialist to join the People Solutions team. Reporting to the SVP of People Solutions, this role partners with HR, Legal, managers, employees, and external vendors to deliver compliant, well-documented, and employee-centered outcomes across Television, Radio, and Corporate functions.
This role strengthens CMG’s employment compliance foundation by managing critical programs with accuracy, discretion, and disciplined follow-through. The HR Compliance & Employment Practices Specialist will help ensure workers’ compensation, workplace accommodations, policy governance, immigration administration, FCC/EEO reporting, and annual compliance training are executed consistently, documented appropriately, and aligned with legal, regulatory, and business expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Workers’ Compensation & Return-to-Work:
- Own workers’ compensation claim administration from intake through resolution, including documentation, tracking, stakeholder communication, and coordination with managers, HR, carriers, administrators, and providers.
- Advise employees and managers on claim requirements, timelines, documentation, return-to-work expectations, and related employment practices.
Policy Governance & Employment Practices:
- Lead updates to employment policies, procedures, templates, and job aids in partnership with HR leadership and Legal.
- Drive policy governance by tracking changes, maintaining version control, preparing stakeholder updates, and reinforcing consistent policy application.
Immigration Administration:
- Manage immigration administration by coordinating documentation, tracking cases, partnering with vendors and attorneys, communicating with employees, monitoring renewals, and ensuring compliance follow-up.
Workplace Accommodations:
- Coordinate with ASKHR to support workplace accommodation case management, including intake, documentation, employee and manager communication, and timely follow-through.
- Gather and review job descriptions, essential job functions, and other role-specific information to support the interactive process.
- Partner with Prudential to manage required documentation, case updates, and vendor coordination while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- When an accommodation is approved, coordinate with the HRBP and manager to support implementation, communication, and ongoing follow-up as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (continued)
Compliance Training & Regulatory Reporting:
- Execute the annual compliance training cycle, including assignments, launch communications, completion tracking, overdue escalations, reporting, and follow-up.
- Deliver FCC/EEO reporting support by gathering and validating data, maintaining documentation, coordinating stakeholders, and submitting reports on time.
Reporting, Records & Risk Management:
- Develop metrics and reports to surface trends, risks, gaps, and process improvement opportunities.
- Flag emerging compliance risks using trackers, metrics, reporting, and program data.
- Track critical deadlines for FCC/EEO reporting, immigration renewals, workers’ compensation follow-up, and compliance training completion.
- Maintain accurate records and data integrity while safeguarding sensitive employee information.
- Escalate complex or high-risk matters and help drive practical, compliance-minded resolution.

Delivers accurate, timely, and employee-centered administration of workers’ compensation, workplace accommodations, immigration, policy governance, FCC/EEO reporting, and annual compliance training.

Builds trusted partnerships with HR, Legal, managers, and external vendors while providing practical guidance and escalating risk appropriately.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
Maintains accurate records, strengthens reporting discipline, closes compliance gaps, and improves processes that support accountability and consistency.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, preferred.
- 5+ years of HR, employment practices, compliance, benefits, or related experience, including exposure to workers’ compensation, policy administration, immigration, FCC/EEO reporting, compliance training, or regulatory program support.
- Experience managing sensitive, deadline-driven processes with HR partners, Legal, business leaders, vendors, carriers, administrators, or immigration counsel.
- Strong understanding of HR compliance, employment documentation, policy governance, case or program management, and multi-state employment environments.
- Skilled in using HRIS, learning management systems, case management tools, vendor portals, Excel, and reporting tools to track activity, maintain records, and identify risks or trends.
- Strong communication, judgment, discretion, organization, and follow-through; able to work independently and escalate risk appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
