Job Title:  Senior Employee Relations & Compliance Specialist

 

Position Overview

The Senior Employee Relations and Compliance Specialist will play a key role within the Employment Practices Team. This role will support a wide range of topics including the end-to-end investigation of employee complaints, candidate background checks and I9 administration. This role will also contribute to the development and implementation of processes and procedures with the Employment Practices team. A critical element of the role centers around the ability to develop and maintain a consultive relationship with our HR team, employment counsel and business leaders across the organization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will primarily be responsible for managing, investigating, and resolving employee complaints received through our Ethics Point system or open-door practices. 
  • You will work closely with our HRBP team in conjunction with in-house employment counsel to ensure timely resolution of all complaints. 
  • You will facilitate daily adjudications of escalated candidate background checks in conjunction with our background screening vendor(s). 
  • You will conduct monthly audits of the Form I9 system to ensure our location I9 administrators execute new hire I-9s timely and in a compliant manner. 
  • You will work closely with I9 administrators to provide guidance and education on all ICE and DHS updates as needed.  
  • You will participate in the planning and execution of annual compliance activities (i.e. compliance training, audits, etc.) 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of employee relations experience including a deep knowledge and proficiency handling end-to-end workplace investigations
  • Experience in conducting complex and senior-level investigations in a multi-site and remote organization
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive information and navigate difficult subject matter with tact and diplomacy
  • Strong consultative and interpersonal skills with experience dealing with all levels of leadership in an organization
  • High level of confidentiality and the ability to understand broad HR issues and associated company policies
  • Proficiency with new hire I9 processes and I9 management systems
  • Strong working knowledge of human resources, employee relations and employment law 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to issue spot with the ability to issue spot and pivot conversations as needed to fully review an open matter and have the written communication skills to capture accurate contemporaneous notes and draft effective investigative summaries
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Investigation software (NAVEX Ethics Point) and SAP/SuccessFactors HRIS a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • PHR/SHRM-CP certification 
  • Knowledge of multi-state and Federal employment law
