Position Overview

Do you have compassion for your community? At WFTV- Channel 9 & WRDQ TV 27, we believe in using our powerful voice to benefit families in Central Florida. We are currently seeking a Public Affairs Coordinator for an important part-time position. You will help organize station-sponsored events and work with charitable partners to promote our outreach initiatives WFTV 9 Family Connection and TV27 Community Connection. Other responsibilities will include coordinating video shoots, capturing interviews for stories about our public events, creating social posts and writing web stories. This is your opportunity to showcase your writing, editing and videography skills while supporting our station initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize community events under the 9 Family Connection/27 Community Connection umbrellas 
  • Edit station PSA community campaigns to air on WFTV/WRDQ
  • Social Media Content Creation and post to social media platforms for the stations’ community efforts and support our current partner activities
  • Represent the station at community events.
  • Shoot b-roll and interviews at station supported events
  • Post web stories via current CMS program
  • Work with Retail Production Department or Creative Services Department for 9 Family Connection and 27 Community Connection image and on-air campaigns. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in communications, marketing, or related field or be a current student enrolled in one of those majors
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in Adobe Software such as Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to learn a Content Management System for web content
  • Proficient in Social Media Content Creation 
  • Experience in videography and ability to conduct shoots and interviews 
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
