Job Title:  News Technology Coordinator - WPXI TV

 

Position Overview

WPXI TV Pittsburgh has an exciting opportunity for a News Technical Coordinator. The role is responsible for resolving time-sensitive technical requests, maintaining the gear used to present and preserve media, maintaining tech supply inventory, and working alongside journalists to capture aerial video of news assignments.

 

This role will work closely with the news photographers, reporters, and video editors of the newsroom.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate a customer service approach to technical support
  • Effectively resolve as a front-line technical problems for field crews
  • Communicate technology updates and workflow changes to relevant employees
  • Assist with technical onboarding of new employees
  • Construct how-to guides on media workflows and best practices
  • Provide ongoing documentation of news technology hardware and software
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on photographer’s gear
  • Identify opportunities to improve newsroom workflows
  • Research new technology for capital projects
  • Assist with delivering and retrieving vehicles for maintenance
  • Follow up on reported discrepancies and make appropriate referrals
  • Work occasional weekends and holidays as needed to support coverage

Minimum Qualifications

  • Lift and carry 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broadcast newsroom experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting or video production preferred
  • FAA Part 107 preferred
  • Avid media management experience preferred
